Warangal Woman Missing for 3 Months Was Fatally Attacked, Suspect Arrested

<p>A 40-year-old woman from Hasanparthy mandal in Warangal who had been reported missing for three months was allegedly fatally attacked by a 27-year-old man she had reportedly been in a relationship with, police have said.</p>
<p>The woman, identified as Swapna, was a resident of Hasanparthy mandal and had been married to a man from Kamalapur, who passed away a few years into their marriage.</p>
<p>According to reports, Swapna had travelled with her parents to Bellary in Karnataka to perform a puja. During that visit, she reportedly became acquainted with Basava Raju, aged 27. The acquaintance later allegedly developed into a relationship between the two.</p>
<p>On May 15, Swapna left for Bellary but never returned home. Her parents then filed a missing complaint at the Hasanparthy police station.</p>
<p>After three months of investigation, police traced Swapna's movements and established that she had gone with Basava Raju. He was taken into custody and questioned.</p>
<p>During questioning, Basava Raju allegedly confessed to fatally attacking Swapna and disposing of her remains in a forest area. He reportedly told police that he carried out the act because she had allegedly been pressuring him to marry her.</p>
<p>Basava Raju has since been arrested and sent to judicial remand. Further investigation is currently underway.</p>
