KTR's PA Appears Before Saifabad Police in Assembly Scuffle Case

<p>Hyderabad: Mahender Reddy, personal assistant to Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao, appeared before the Saifabad Police investigating officer on Monday, September 14, responding to a notice issued to him in connection with the confrontation outside the Telangana Legislative Assembly.</p>
<p>The notice was issued on a complaint filed by Busaramoni Jangaiah, a Reserve Inspector at the City Armed Reserve Headquarters. Reddy, along with KTR's public relations officer Mahesh, faces first information reports for allegedly obstructing police personnel from discharging their duties during the incident that unfolded on the first day of the Telangana Assembly Monsoon Session.</p>
<p>Mahender Reddy had moved the Telangana High Court seeking to quash the FIR. The court directed police not to take any coercive steps against him while permitting the investigating officer to proceed with the probe.</p>
<p>The trouble began on the opening day of the Monsoon Session, when BRS MLAs wearing black T-shirts carrying political captions were stopped by police outside the Assembly. The standoff quickly escalated into shoving, pushing, and heated exchanges. BRS leader Harish Rao and other members pulled off their shirts in protest before being placed in a police van and taken to Telangana Bhavan.</p>
<p>BRS women legislators V Sunitha Laxma Reddy and P Sabitha Indra Reddy were allegedly grabbed by the throat, had their sarees torn, hair pulled, and were dragged away. Sunitha Reddy was reportedly trampled. KTR is said to have stepped in to shield them from further harm.</p>
<p>Party leaders submitted a representation to Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla, describing the episode as a constitutional breakdown. A complaint was also filed with the Telangana State Commission for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, demanding action over the alleged manhandling.</p>
<p>In a counter move, Saifabad Police filed FIRs against KTR and Harish Rao for allegedly intimidating and threatening women police officers at Gate No. 3 of the Assembly building, with police stating that the leaders stood too close to female constables, causing them discomfort and distress.</p>
