Konda Surekha addressed Congress party workers at MK Naidu Function Hall in Hanamkonda on Sunday, marking her first public meeting since being dropped from the Telangana state Cabinet.

Speaking to her supporters, the former minister reflected on her 32-year political career, saying she had faced many struggles and risen from the position of MPP to becoming a cabinet minister. She said that a true leader is one who earns a place in the hearts of the people.

Taking an apparent dig at political defections, Surekha said some people switch parties in the morning and move to another party by the afternoon. Her husband, Konda Murali, made clear that the couple had no intention of leaving the Congress party and no inclination to join any other party.

Large numbers of Konda Surekha's supporters gathered outside the function hall ahead of the meeting. The event was originally planned at the couple's residence in Hanamkonda but was shifted to the function hall following forecasts of heavy rain.

According to reports, Konda Surekha is likely to travel to Delhi after the meeting. The couple is expected to seek the views of their supporters before departing later in the day and is expected to remain unavailable for the next 10 to 12 days.
