US Plans to Use AI to Speed Up Visa Processing

Washington, D.C.: The United States government is planning to introduce Artificial Intelligence (AI) into its visa processing system to reduce waiting times and improve efficiency.

The move comes as the country prepares to welcome millions of visitors for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Officials expect a significant increase in visa applications over the next few years.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said AI technology could help process certain visa applications more quickly, especially for travellers who have already received US visas in the past.

Apart from using AI, the State Department is also considering longer working hours and additional staff at US consulates to manage the growing demand for visas.

The US government believes these measures will help improve the overall visa process while continuing to maintain security checks and immigration standards.

The country is also preparing for other major international events, including the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games, making faster visa processing an important priority.
