Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has announced that the state government aims to complete the long-pending Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) project before the next Assembly elections.
Speaking at a public programme, the Chief Minister said the Congress government is giving top priority to the irrigation project and is taking all necessary steps to complete the remaining work within the planned timeline.
Revanth Reddy said the project is important for improving irrigation facilities and providing reliable water supply to farmers in several parts of Telangana. He added that the government is committed to finishing unfinished development works and ensuring their benefits reach the people.
The Chief Minister also criticised the previous BRS government, alleging that the SLBC project did not receive the attention it required. He said the present administration has restarted the pending works with a clear focus on completing the project.
According to the Chief Minister, engineers and officials have been instructed to speed up construction while maintaining safety standards. He expressed confidence that the canal project would become operational before the people vote in the next Assembly elections.
The SLBC project is one of Telangana's major irrigation initiatives and is expected to improve water availability for agriculture after its completion.
